Senior IT Project Manager with German – Complex Integrations | DACH & Nordics

We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to take ownership of complex customer-facing IT projects in an international environment.

This is a hands-on project management role requiring strong ownership, leadership and proactive delivery. We are looking for someone who can take the driver's seat, establish a clear project structure, lead customers and delivery teams, anticipate what needs to happen next, and actively drive projects forward.

You will initially take responsibility for complex projects for enterprise customers in the financial services and insurance environment, involving system integrations, APIs/interfaces, migrations, and transformation activities. Previous experience with the specific technology is not required – strong project management expertise and experience leading complex IT delivery are significantly more important.

Your Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of complex IT implementation and integration projects
• Establish and actively manage project plans, milestones, priorities and dependencies
• Lead international and cross-functional delivery teams
• Proactively drive projects forward rather than only facilitating customer or team activities
• Provide clear direction to customers and internal project teams
• Manage project scope, timelines, risks, issues and dependencies
• Coordinate projects involving APIs, interfaces, system integrations, migrations and transformations
• Manage senior customer stakeholders and build confidence in the delivery approach
• Delegate responsibilities and ensure accountability across the project team
• Identify potential delivery risks early and actively drive their resolution
• Provide transparent project status and ensure consistent follow-through
• Manage parallel projects where required

What We Are Looking For

• Senior-level experience in IT Project Management
• Proven ownership of end-to-end IT project delivery
• Experience leading larger, cross-functional and/or distributed project teams
• Strong experience with complex system integration, migration or transformation projects
• Ability to quickly understand an unfamiliar customer and technical environment
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide direction and drive delivery independently
• Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management experience
• Proven ability to bring structure to complex or ambiguous projects and move them forward
• Experience with established project management methodologies and delivery processes
• German and English – mandatory

The Profile We Need

You are a hands-on Senior Project Manager, not just a project coordinator. You are comfortable entering a project where not everything is defined, creating structure, and providing clear direction on what needs to happen next.

You combine strong project management discipline with practical execution. You can understand technical dependencies and integration topics at the level necessary to manage delivery effectively, without needing to be the technical expert yourself.

Most importantly, you take ownership. You are proactive, dependable, and comfortable leading both teams and customers through complex situations while keeping the project moving toward its goals.

Project Setup

• International enterprise IT environment
• Complex financial services / insurance-related customer environments
• Approx. 75% allocation initially
• Minimum expected cooperation: 6 months
• Potential extension and increase up to full-time allocation based on project pipeline and performance
• Possibility to take responsibility for additional projects over time
• Expected start: ASAP / ideally within 4 weeks
• B2B / freelance cooperation

The initial project pipeline currently includes a complex Norwegian insurance customer project expected to run until approximately March/April 2027 and a German financial-services project involving an integration phase followed by document-template migration. Longer-term cooperation is possible as further projects enter the pipeline.
